From April 16 to 21, 2024, at the Fuorisalone MDW2024 in Milan, the installation PULSE explored the potential of using artificial intelligence (AI) software for urban planning and sustainable design.
Together with ATI Project, a leading company known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, we took part in Fuorisalone with the goal of demonstrating the practical applications of AI in urban design. The project aimed to show how AI can go beyond simple open data analysis, becoming a crucial tool for designing urban spaces that respond to the future needs of both society and the environment.
At the heart of the installation, a honeycomb cardboard platform represented Milan’s 88 districts, each interpreted through six reworked key metrics.
Visitors could manipulate the data, watch the visualizations shift, and hear the sounds intensify—becoming architects of change themselves, imagining a sustainable and circular urban future.1
L’installazione si distingueva per il suo design user-friendly e per l’uso di materiali ecosostenibili. Tra questi, Greencast per le torrette e cartone alveolare per la struttura. L’illuminazione era garantita da componenti LED lighting, reducing environmental impact.
The use of sustainable materials not only highlighted the commitment to the environment, but also demonstrated how eco-friendly design can be both aesthetically pleasing and functionally efficient.
The installation fostered an interdisciplinary dialogue, highlighting how AI can redefine not only the design of urban spaces but also social and professional dynamics.
“Milan Ecosystem Data City Sensations” served as an opportunity to reflect on the integration of technology into the creative process, promoting a responsible, data-driven, and visionary approach to design.
